The Bristol Young Student of the Year Awards is a competition for Post 16 students attending state schools, colleges and academies in the Bristol region. The aim of these awards is to develop young peoples' employability skills by giving them real business experience. It is being run by representatives from the local business community with the support of the leading business organisations.  Take a look at what people are saying about the competition.

It is FREE to enter and is also accredited by ASDAN.  The awards were launched in October 2011 and the competition ran until March 2012.  Please register your interest to take part in 2012 - details can be found on the get in touch page.

The awards ceremony took place on the 26th March at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway in the Bristol Fashion Week pavilion.

In order for the economy to grow we need a skilled workforce. The CBI ‘Education and Skills Survey’, conducted in February 2011, identified the top priority for businesses was the development of employability skills in schools and colleges.

The aim of these awards is to:

• Develop students employability skills
• Ensure that students understand how these skills relate to the working environment
• Demonstrate best business practice
• Provide real life working experiences
• Help students believe that they can achieve if they have the passion and drive.
